This patient had been diagnosed with sperm which was 97% abnormal, and Syndrome, was put on The Fertility Support Company’s three month programme:
“The good thing about Naava is that she is able to look at your situation objectively and, as well as being honest, she inspires confidence in her abilities. So she told us that our diets were awful and encouraged us to take better care of ourselves. We saw the benefits almost immediately and this spurred us into carrying on,” he says. “We felt really different and the concept of being healthy in order to make a healthy baby made sense. In the overall scheme of things, three months is not that long.”
During this time, the couple was still waiting for the consultant’s appointment to undergo the tests that would hopefully explain their fertility problems. They were also considering IVF, but needed to save money for the treatment and had, in any case, been advised by their GP to await the test results.
At the end of the three month period, we retested his sperm, and found that the abnormal forms had reduced to 70%. The decision was taken to carry on treating for another three months, and at the end of this further period, sperm was retested and found to be normal. At this time, treatment was limited to maintenance, while we finished treating the patient’s wife for PCOS.
When the patient did research on the Internet for possible causes of infertility in men, he came across Varicocele, a common condition where the veins are blocked causing heat to build up in the affected area, damaging sperm. Many of the symptoms were familiar and so he went to his GP and was tested. He was found to have abnormal sperm formation and Varicocele was confirmed.
The waiting time for treatment on the NHS for this condition was 18 months and so the husband booked in to have the operation done privately. About six months after he and his wife finished the three month programme with Naava, on the day he was due to go in for the operation, his wife discovered that she was pregnant.
“We were relieved that we didn’t have to go through IVF and so excited when we found out,” he comments. “We had wanted a baby for so long and were just really glad that it was finally happening.”

“The three-month programme turns back the clock and once a couple has taken this break from trying to conceive, it generally takes between six and twelve months to then conceive naturally,” explains Naava. “I was delighted when my patient discovered she was pregnant, the programme really worked for them.” |
