Mr Rod Irvine is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist based at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup and at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where he is an honorary Consultant.
Background
Mr Irvine qualified from the Royal London Hospital and prior to pursuing a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology trained in General Surgery attaining his FRCS (Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons).
In Obstetrics and Gynaecology, his specialist training was within the North West Thames Region, during which time he worked at the Chelsea & Westminster, St Mary's, Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospitals.
He has had extensive training in all sub-specialties of gynaecology. Following research and training in infertility, he set up the Assisted Conception Unit at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. Throughout his career, he has had a special interest in minimal access surgery techniques, having trained under internationally renowned preceptors. He is the only UK Gynaecologist to obtain a scholarship in this specialty through the Royal College of Surgeons. He has numerous peer review publications and has written a book on infertility. He is a member of the Medico-Legal Chamber.
Mr Irvine continues to practice obstetrics, working closely with Midwives and Doulas to achieve the highest standards of care for both mother and baby. He carries out deliveries at the Portland Hospital for Women & Children. |
