Problems during pregnancy
  Ectopic Pregnancy
Ectopic pregnancies (one where the egg implants in the cervix, ovary, abdomen or more often the fallopian tube instead of within the uterine lining) often, sadly, end up in the mother loosing the fallopian tube, thereby making a natural conception harder. Having only one tube makes is conception that little bit more difficult (70-85% success rate), and often means going through IVF if the tube has to be removed.

In the UK, ectopics happen in about 0.25-1% of all pregnancies. It is, however, getting more common. In Finland, the number of ectopics has tripled between 1966 and 1985 and in the US there was a four-fold rise between 1970 and 1983. In Jamaica there is an unusually high rate of ectopic pregnancy (1 in 28 deliveries).

Certain conditions predispose one to an ectopic pregnancy, for example; previously undiagnosed STD's which leave scarring, GIFT, tubal surgery, or two or more previous terminations.

This is where The Fertility Support Company comes into the picture. If we know that there is a predisposition to an ectopic pregnancy, we can use the same procedures as we would with any tubal obstruction (see Lap and Dye page), and work to create an atmosphere where the smooth flow of Qi (energy) around the uterine cavity is ensured, thereby helping to avoid a second ectopic pregnancy.
